5th May 2008

Miramichi at an excellent level for spring fishing. Check with one boat on river all day, no luck with the fish. Water temperature around 39 degrees. We had to make do with watching deer and moose along the shoreline.
Down river camps are reporting similar success stories, however being very optimistic, in the belief that the run has yet to start. My honest opinion is that there was a lower than normal fall run and it is being reflected in the spring return, however, even at the worst, stragglers would have remained and we will pick them up for the next week or so, usually the larger salmon swinging into slack water for rest or on the edge of strong water.
