25th September 2009

High today 10 degrees, burr and supposed to go down to 1 degree tonight. Looks like the moose hunt in this area was relatively successful. Most of the hunters we know got their moose and we saw a number on trucks and trailers along rte 8.

Water came up slightly and is chilly. Saw a number of fish this evening but they have lock jaw for the moment, typical fall fishing.

We had a query about putting a boat in for fishing. With the current water level we would have to take the fish out to put a boat in. The best fishing gear for the moment would be "chest waders with felts or cleats" the rocks being a bit slippery. You can still get to the fish with hip waders but will be somewhat restricted reaching those greener pastures.

With the fishing being hard and deer season yet to open there is nothing wrong with bringing the wife or girlfriend and a nice bottle of wine. The trees are just starting to colour up and there are lots of books in the cottage for those who enjoy getting away and reading. I priced the new Dan Brown book today at Chapters, $39.00 Canadian plus tax, that's hefty, so I suggest Herb Curtis' book "The Americans Are Coming."
