A mild day, the river has never frozen over by Moonshadow Cottage - this may not be good for spring fishing as the ice run may clear the pools completely. One never knows.
Over the years I have read a number of Wayne Curtis's books and taken in some of his plays but I'm currently reading his 2010 release, "Long Ago and Far Away" which in my opinion is by far his best release to date. If you want an accurate picture of life on the Miramichi in the early, mid 1900's this is it. Gray Rapids, Blackville, Keenan, Cains, log runs, hunting, the daily struggle for family survivial. I'd love to include excerpts but the book is copyrighted. $19.95 off the shelf or havbe your local library bring it in for free.
A great read.
