The end of another great fishing season.
Did you know:
That "brook trout" are short lived, 3-4 years.
That a four-year-old "brook trout" inhabiting a perpetually cold spring brook may grow to no more than 6 inches in length and weight only an ounce or so, while a trout of the same age inhabiting a relatively rich lake habitat may be 15 or 20 inches in length and weight up to 4 pounds.
That not all the salmon that return to the river stay in the spawning grounds throughout the winter. Some start dropping back long before the spring ice run off.
Our most recent guests enjoyed the change in leaf colours, reading and relaxing. We have guests arriving from PEI by weeks end. Always thought tourism went the other way :)
Hunters booking through November. December remains open. If booking are slow in December we will shut the cottage down for the 2009 season and start relaxing ourselves.
